Klostergarden is the brand name of Utstein Farm, located around Utstein Kloster, Norway’s only preserved medieval monastery. Utstein Monastery is mentioned in historical records going back to the 9’th century, when it was cited as King Harald Fairhair´s garrison after the Battle of Hafrsfjord where Norway was unified under one monarch. The area is a national protected cultural environment. The family farm is now run by Inger Lise and Anders Schanche Rettedal, as the 11’th generation farmers.

It is on these historic premises that we produce what very well could be the most tender and tasteful lambs in Norway. We have also attained a Norwegian Speciality Distinction for lambs from Klostergarden produced by us and by 45 other farmers under our brand name. Utstein Farm also produce Limousin beef cattle and pigs, including some free-range pigs. And we have a farm outlet in a sea house just below the premises of Utstein Monastary.
